VIDEO: 3 Blipsters get mad blazed and analyze AnCo’s “Brother Sport” music video Posted: 23 May 2010 02:51 PM PDT Video may not be playable in your RSS readerDoes Animal Collective make more sense when u r ‘lifted’? The blipsters begin to talk about their disenfranchisement with the scene. One claims that he wants to create art and poetry as opposed to ‘going out to party’ every weekend. He later claims that the Beatles are part of the Illuminati, part of some sort of worldwide conspiracy. Seems likely that he has ‘proof’ in some sort of youtube slideshow/website from 1993. The sounds of Animal Collective’s hit anthem “Brother Sport” clash violently with the NBA posters on the walls of this blipster’s dorm room. Can u connect with this meme? Have you ever ‘got mad lifted’ with ur bros, put on some AnCo, and talked about art, society, life, and any other modern buzztopic? |

Sorta wonder what happened to that bro. I remember back in the day when he was ‘the ultimate blogworthy artist’ since he mashed up so many songs back when we all ‘just wanted to party ironically’ instead of listening to boring indie rock. He sorta embodied the spirit of the Hype Machine back before the Hype Machine turned in2 a ‘poo poo shitter’ of mashup SEO mp3s. Do u miss the spirit of Girl Talk? IF YOU HAVE ANY INFORMATION ABOUT GIRL TALKS / Greg Gillis, PLEASE SHARE IT IN THE COMMENT SECTION. WHEN WAS THE LAST TIME U SAW THAT BRO? |
The XX responds to AnCo’s Guggenheim art installation, creates their own artsy experience Posted: 23 May 2010 09:53 AM PDT After Animal Collective’s installation / performance art at the Guggenheim [link], it seems like bands who want to be authentic will now be required to ‘get artsy’ and focus less on their buzzworthy mp3s, but instead on art installations that are related to their band brand. I am not sure if many bands are as ‘out there’ as AnCo, but seems like the XX just tried to make some ambient art, kinda like their music. Some artist bro named Karl Sadler made some sort of installation art piece. There are three pillars that have TV screens on them, and each member of the XX is shown playing his instrument for the duration of their album. It is sorta like going to their concert, except they are on video screens, and it is artsy. There are also ‘timed lights’ that vibe with the music. Do u think this is good for the XX’s brand? Does it make u want to stand in the center for 40 minutes, and just vibe out to their relevant 2009 album ‘xx’? Which band member’s screen do u think you would watch the most? Kinda miss Romy. Hope she’s okay Wonder what Oliver Sim has been up 2. R u okay, bro? Hope the other bro in the XX is okay, too. He has always seemed ‘distant’ tho… Feel kinda distant from them lately, like they need new buzz products to keep me engaged in their brand. This performance art is kewl and all, but I am not sure if I can travel to the United Kingdom to be ‘immersed’ inside of their album for 40 minutes. Guess I’ll just have to ’settle’ for seeing them live at a ‘boring ass club’ with tons of other entry levs. Wonder if the XX should invite Karl Sadler into their band as a ‘visual artist’ to replace the missing ethnic girl who they kicked out. |
