Fleet Foxes collab with Ed Droste and Noah Lennox to release some new MP3s

[MP3]
Robin Pecknold I'm Losing Myself Ft Ed Droste and Noah Lennox

The guy from the Fleet Foxes has a new album coming out, but I'm not sure if the Fleet Foxes is 'just him' or an entire band that is jealous of his talent + success. Anyways, it seems like he 'went solo' but then decided to 'collab'/'start a super group' with Edward Droste of Grizzly Bear AND he even got Ed Droste to 'put aside his bad blood' from the relevancy wars of 2k9 to collab with 'Noah', who we can all assume is Noah Lennox.

Gotta love a Fleet Foxes + Grizz Bear + Panda Bear jam... U never thought foxes and bears could play 2gether, but it seems like maybe we were wrong. Sort of like how in the NBA, LeBron James chose to start a super team with Dwayne Wade, we are starting to see indie celebs + super groups form to 'win the internet' and achieve the long term goal of winning an Arcade Fire style Grammy.

Do yall <3 this song, or is it boring folk?
Does it remind u of going to camp and then some Christian bro sings a song on guitar and all of the girls at camp want to give him a handy?
Should Ed Droste have demanded 'more mic time' so we could hear him 'over sing' just to prove that he has the best voice in indie, sorta like Xtina Aguilera?
What did Panda Bear contribute 2 this song?
Does Noah seem hella chill?
Is this the perfect indie MP3?
Is it time for the Fleet Foxes 2 add more bleepy bloops to their MP3s?

James Blake is on the cover of the new FADER magazine

Posted: 07 Mar 2011 08:58 AM PST

From what I understand, The Fader is one of those 'alt magazines' that only really exists to 'seem more meaningful' than a blog even though it is just a blog with alt crap on paper in a magazine. Not sure what the circulation is, or if there is a group of ppl who consider The Fader to be the last great home of print journalism in the world... I think they just put their own artists from their own record label on the cover with Mountain Dew logos, which is chill with me.

Anyways, James Blake is on the cover of this month/season's FADER Magazine. No idea who will buy this, or which stores I can find this in, but I guess 'Congrats James. Dubstep has finally arrived'? From what I understand, FADER Mag is only around because they enjoy bragging abt how they were the first magazine to put Kanye West on the cover, so they think that gives them credibility, even though at the end of Kanye West's life in 1-2 years, we will view his career as annoying/a flop.

Has Dubstep 'finally arrived' now that the genre is getting American magazine press?
Will James Blake be on the cover of Rolling Stone even though he isn't as famous as Snooki?
Does James Blake look keut?
Should I ask my barber at Supercuts to give me a James Blake haircut, then show them the cover of FADER Magazine?

Ben Gibbard is running in a marathon and wants u 2 donate

ben gibbard lost weight
Ben Gibbard is apparently running in a marathon. Usually when people do this, they either a) take donations bc they want attention2 brand themselves as a 'good person' AND b) to try to lose some weight so that people tell them how good they look, then the marathoner can be like "Well! I have been training a lot!" Anyways, Benj Gib is doing both because that's just how he rolls, and he needs to keep the weight off to make sure that Zooey Deschanel doesn't fall in love with some1 else while she is filming a generic indie romance with a 3rd tier Hollywood leading male [via Jeff Gordon Levitts].

Ben Gibbard (of Death Cab for Cutie and The Postal Service) is running the LA Marathon on March 20 and is asking fans to donate $26 – $1 for each mile that he runs – to the non-profit organization 826 LA, which is dedicated to supporting students ages 6 to 18 with their creative and expository writing skills and to helping teachers inspire their students to write by providing after-school tutoring, evening and weekend workshops and more.

Do u think Ben Gibbard has a chance of winning this marathon?
Will Zoey Deschanel be embarrassed if his time is too slow?
Is 'running a marathon' the ultimate mid-life crisis move?
Have u ever ran in a marathon?
Is the NYC Marathon 'more alt' than the LA Marathon [via exclusivity]?
Will Ben Gibbard raise 'mad bank' for this charity, or will the charity be like "Why can't u be like the Arcade Fire and give us $1 million of ur sales?"

I miss the old, hefty Ben... :-(

Is the new Pitchfork Music Festival logo 'too alt 4 its own good'?

Posted: 07 Mar 2011 08:28 AM PST

I just saw the new Pitchfork Music Festival logo, and it looks pretty alt. Like it might be the background .jpg to my new indie underground altered zone wave blog that also has a vintage minidisc label... Sure it looks alt... but is it 'mainstream enough' to really present the p4k brand to the mainstream bro type? Can they really 'slap that bad boy on a t-shirt and sell the hell out of it' to all of the lamestreamer Midwesterners who go 2 Chicago for Lollapalooza?

I sorta miss the old vibe...

Always <3 making up my old fonts when I am bored in class.

This seems kinda chill too

Stencils are pretty chill. One time I spraypainted address numbers on curbs just to pick up a little bit more cash.

Do yall <3 the new redesign / rebrand?
Is this 'worse than the GAP logo'?
Is the new logo 'branded' enough in a mainstream lamestream way, or did they make it 100% alt?
Is the redesign 'brilliant' or does it leave u 'wanting more'?
R u an 'arm chair graphic design major' [via having high level design sensibilities]?
R u gonna get ur parents to buy u a 5 day pass 2 this music festy, or will u wait to see honkier bands at Lollapalooza?
