HIPSTER RUNOFF

Is the Sleeve Scarf the next big alt fashion trend? R u gonna buy a slarf?

I am always looking for progressive items of clothing that take design + fashion + functional seasonal protection to the next level. It seems like the 'slarf' aka the 'sleeve scarf' might be the next big relevant alt fashion accessory. It's always kinda weird how the coldest places on ur body are your arm and ur neck, so the sleeve scarf gives u the opportunity 2 keep both of those warm without compromising ur high level personal brand.

Sorta thought about vibing out to an NBA style shooting sleeve, just to keep my arm warm. [via Allen Iverson]

Sorta feel like it is 'alt' to wear a scarf, even when it is too warm just so people know that you are totally alt and 'fashionable' despite the weather.

I feel rlly happy that Etsy exists to give low level alt viral products an opportunity 2 thrive + be sucessful. However, Etsy designers have to realize that there is more 2 'being an online merchant' than 'going moderately viral' because of ur progressive product. It should be their goal to go 'mainstream viral', sorta like the snuggie, designing the perfect product that taps into the Middle American zeitgeist...

Only time will tell if the slarf will 'catch on' and become a relevant alt/mainstream fashion trend, but it is great to live in a progressive world where the best products, the top fashions, and the most creative, innovative, inspiring people will be featured for making quality work.

Does the slarf bro look chill?
Do u want to buy a slarf?
Is it gonna be too hot to wear a slarf to Coachella?
Should I learn how 2 crochet and start an Etsy Store with quirky products + accessories?
Would u rather wear a slarf or just a 'shooting sleeve'?

Is Etsy just where 'design majors go 2 die'?
What is the 'viral-est product of all time'?

BANKSY UNCOVERED: Some1 snaps photograph of him doodling on a wall

what does banksy look like
Banksy is a mysterious graffiti artist who gets a lot of buzz, but I'm not really sure why. Whenever I cross over to 'the wrong side of the tracks', I see tons of spray painted walls and murals by innercity children. I guess because he is all shady and anonymous, his brand was elevated 2 such great heights, but now some1 apparently took a picture of him and 'ruined the mystique for every1.'

Wearing a pulled-down green cap, a brown T-shirt and grey Adidas tracksuit bottoms, ‘Banksy’ scrambled to the top of the old container at the side of a busy highway, on which he had sprayed, ‘This Looks A Bit Like An Elephant’.

Banksy is known to go back to photograph his art, as revealed in his book Wall And Piece – and the man here was carrying a camera. [DailyMail]

Do yall think that this dude is Banksy, or just an art school bro trying to 'rip off' Banksy?
Is Banksy 'brilliant'? Or does he just draw entry level political cartoons on walls?
Did he just ride anti-Bush waves 2 gain popularity, and now he is boring bc Obama fixed the world? (Sorta like the Daily Show/Colbert Report being 'funnier' when a Republican is in office)

Is this dude Banksy or is he one of those dudes who is trying to make money so he spraypaints your address on the curb in front of your house?

'Thanks Banksy'

Some Japanese Magazine calls WAVVES 'a complete idiot' after interviewing him

Posted: 04 Mar 2011 10:09 AM PST

WAVVES had an interview in a random Asian magazine. Probably not in China because they h8 foreign cultures, which probably includes fuzzy buzzy music. I'd have to guess Japan since they are kinda alt. Anyways, WAVVES must be new to them, because every1 in America is pretty tired of his gimmick and is just exhausted reading abt his 1 dimensional antics. The blogosphere rode him + Best Coast pretty hard, but by doing so, they might have ruined their careers/no1 will ever really take them seriously.

U gotta give this Japanese Indie Zine props for calling him an 'idiot' after interviewing him. Maybe he said something offensive about the Chinese government, or was like 'why do yall eat weird noodle and sushi food?" U never know what Nathan Williams will say in an off-the-cuff interview.

Is Nathan Williams 'an idiot'?
R u tired of Best Coast + WAVVES?
Is it time for them to 'shut it down' for 6-18 months or are they addicted to alt microfame?
Do modern buzzbands have to stay in the spotlight all year because they have to continue to find ways to make money?

Lykke Li tries to look like Natalie Portman on Fallon, received 8.3 from Pitchfork

Posted: 04 Mar 2011 09:56 AM PST

I just watched this video of Lykke Li on Jimmy Fallon. By 'watch', I mean scrolled thru the first 30-40 seconds then stopped watching it because I am not sure if her new album is as good as her last album. But she is an indie female, and we sorta have an equal opportunity blogosphere, so u kinda gotta just give her some press/acclaim even if ur not that into it so that more females will come to ur site.</embed>

Jimmy Fallon really tried to make it seem like "I PERSONALLY LOVE THIS INDIE ARTIST."

Anyways, she looks like she was trying to 'look like Natalie Portman' on stage.

I guess now that Natalie Portman is an Oscar winner, her 'look' is in, or maybe Lykke Li was trying to confuse American audiences into thinking she actually was Natalie Portman.

In other Lyyke Li news, she got an 8.3 with a Best New Music from Pitchfork. I will probably never listen to this album, but I will continue to watch her videos and hope that she shows off as much skin as possible.

Do yall <3 Lykke Li?
Is she 'mad relevant'?
Was she great on Fallon?
Does she deserve 8.3?
Do yall listen to her, or did she 'peak' on that cover of that Kings of Leon song?
Can Lykke Li go mainstream in America?

Charlie Sheen = Patrick Bateman?
