The Museum of Modern Alt is intended to give us an opportunity to 'celebrate indie, alt, and meme history.' Every day, we search the blogosphere for 'museum-worthy' events that we will want to tell our grandchildren about. Unfortunately, we have no way to relay the stories of indie to our children because they won't be able to scroll backwards for hundreds of years on blogs. It is the Museum of Modern Alt's mission to preserve and celebrate the great moments in alt/indie/the internet, providing opportunities 4 reflection on the most relevant alt happenings of today, yesterday, & tomorrow. http://www.hipsterrunoff.com/museum http://www.hipsterrunoff.com/museum http://www.hipsterrunoff.com/museum Blogs will not last forever. God Bless the MoMalt Mission. |

| The Strokes release new music video where they try to brand themselves as mainstream Posted: 02 Mar 2011 07:50 AM PST Just watched this new music video for "Under the Cover of Darkness" by The Strokes. U gotta feel kinda bad for the Strokes because they really tried to play up the gimmick that they 'rediscovered their vintage swag', but now it just seems like they have 'entered the machine' except it might not even be as good as Kings of Leon bro music, and no1 is gonna be happy except for cool dads who listen to mp3s just because they think it makes them feel cool. This video seems like it is just trying to be 'clean' for some solid play on MTV where 16 & preggers tweens from West Virginia can discover them and start dressing like them. But I guess maybe we shouldn't be surprised... They sorta have a brand, and they don't really have 2 make anything amazing because they aren't some weird buzzband that is just trying to get a 10.0. They can just chill and play tricky things on guitar and every1 will be like 'whoa. Nick Valensi in da effing house, yall.' The bad news is that this is the kind of album that Pitchfork will feel comfortable 'assaulting', but The Strokies will probs laugh 'all the way 2 the bank.' Really feel like they needed to write a "Use Somebody" type album if they really wanted 2 go mainstream. Or maybe something that u can play at basketball arenas. Did Julian Casablancas 'half ass it' on this album? Do yall miss Green Aggs and Ham? Was this video filmed in the same place where MGMT's "Flash Delirium" was filmed? [via bad omens] Is the Strokes new album 'officially a flop' or is it just a mainstream rock album that indie ppl will overanalyze? |

Anyways, the only thing that probably happened on the boat was the Vivian Girls showing off their 'bangin bikini bods.' U gotta give them props for doing more than just 'playing a boring show with their boring songs.' They gave the fans what they wanted: some skin. Kickball Katy has some ample breasts. U can't help but wonder if she is utilizing the strategy of 'being hotter than Best Coast' 2 steal headlines from her. Also here is a picture of an intimate moment on the Booze Cruise where Kickball Katy is making out with one of the dudes from the Black Lips. Might be the other girl in the band, though. Can't really tell. Do u think u would be willing to care abt the Vivian Girls if they 'showed more skin'? |
