Welcome to MoMalt.org. The Museum of Modern Alt.

Welcome to the Museum of Modern Alt. MoMalt is a relevant eMuseum where we use the power of 'art'/'comics'/doodle-wave drawings/jpgs to reflect on some of the most important memes, events, and humans in the history of the modern blogosphere/altosphere.

Daily memes that will last 4evr.

'Exit thru the Food Court.'

The Museum of Modern Alt is intended to give us an opportunity to 'celebrate indie, alt, and meme history.' Every day, we search the blogosphere for 'museum-worthy' events that we will want to tell our grandchildren about. Unfortunately, we have no way to relay the stories of indie to our children because they won't be able to scroll backwards for hundreds of years on blogs.

It is the Museum of Modern Alt's mission to preserve and celebrate the great moments in alt/indie/the internet, providing opportunities 4 reflection on the most relevant alt happenings of today, yesterday, & tomorrow.

Blogs will not last forever.
It is time 4 us 2 start trying to preserve & celebrate our culture.

God Bless the MoMalt Mission.
God Bless Alt.
'The Modern Blog is killing itself. The Modern Indiesphere will eat its tail.'

Hercules and Love Affair do a gay house cover of the XX

Shelter (XX Cover) by moshi moshi music
I think Hercules and Love Affair was sorta a buzz hit wonder and no1 really vibes out to them as hard as they did when they came to market, but they did some cover of the XX's "Shelter." It has a bunch of bleeps and bloops and is 'chill' and 'vintage electro house' or whatever a music critic would call it. Sorta reminds me of the time I went to a gay bar and accidentally did too many poppers and then I woke up the next morning shooting low budget gay porn in a random beachside condo in South Florida.

Anyways, do yall think that this 'cover' is 'amazing' or did they ruin the xx?
Is this cover just as boring as an xx song?
Is the Fourth Member of The XX seeing any royalties from this cover?
Is that tranny dude still in HercLove?
Do yall 'get' this gay house music 90s freestyle dubstep stuff, or is it just kinda weird and boring 2 u?
Are Hercules and Love Affair 'still relevant' or have they undergone buzzband euthanasia?
Do yall <3 the genre 'gay house' or does it get 'too dark' 4 u & bring up weird memories?

The Strokes release new music video where they try to brand themselves as mainstream

Just watched this new music video for "Under the Cover of Darkness" by The Strokes. U gotta feel kinda bad for the Strokes because they really tried to play up the gimmick that they 'rediscovered their vintage swag', but now it just seems like they have 'entered the machine' except it might not even be as good as Kings of Leon bro music, and no1 is gonna be happy except for cool dads who listen to mp3s just because they think it makes them feel cool. This video seems like it is just trying to be 'clean' for some solid play on MTV where 16 & preggers tweens from West Virginia can discover them and start dressing like them.

But I guess maybe we shouldn't be surprised... They sorta have a brand, and they don't really have 2 make anything amazing because they aren't some weird buzzband that is just trying to get a 10.0. They can just chill and play tricky things on guitar and every1 will be like 'whoa. Nick Valensi in da effing house, yall.'

The bad news is that this is the kind of album that Pitchfork will feel comfortable 'assaulting', but The Strokies will probs laugh 'all the way 2 the bank.' Really feel like they needed to write a "Use Somebody" type album if they really wanted 2 go mainstream. Or maybe something that u can play at basketball arenas.

Did Julian Casablancas 'half ass it' on this album?

Do yall miss Green Aggs and Ham?

R u disappointed in this video/in The Strokes?

Was this video filmed in the same place where MGMT's "Flash Delirium" was filmed? [via bad omens]

Is the Strokes new album 'officially a flop' or is it just a mainstream rock album that indie ppl will overanalyze?
Does 1 of the Strokes need to get into a high level celebrity relaish just to make their album release cycle 300% more interesting?

The Vivian Girls show off their banging bikini bodies (2 prove they hotter than Best Coast)

Posted: 01 Mar 2011 07:18 PM PST

Apparently some thing happened called 'the Booze Cruise' where a bunch of those punky fuzzy buzzy bands went on a cruise with a bunch of people who like those bands/that pseudo-lifestyle. Not really any relevant bands... U sorta wish that every1 who was on that cruise 'got Titanicked' so that we'd lose some of the crusty population.

Anyways, the only thing that probably happened on the boat was the Vivian Girls showing off their 'bangin bikini bods.' U gotta give them props for doing more than just 'playing a boring show with their boring songs.' They gave the fans what they wanted: some skin.

The red head really 'brought her A-game', ready 2 become a Charlie Sheen Goddess. Her name is apparently 'Kickball Katy', which sounds funnie.

Kickball Katy has some ample breasts. U can't help but wonder if she is utilizing the strategy of 'being hotter than Best Coast' 2 steal headlines from her.
best coast in a bikini snacks
I sorta would like to see the Vivian Girls wear skimpier outfits instead of just the weird dresses for women in polygamous marriage. 'Glam it up' 4 us, girls... Let men have a lil peep of ur goodness <3

Also here is a picture of an intimate moment on the Booze Cruise where Kickball Katy is making out with one of the dudes from the Black Lips. Might be the other girl in the band, though. Can't really tell.

After seeing the Vivian Girls in bikinis/tankinis/sexi alt 1pieces, u gotta say that maybe there is 'hope for them' ...
Maybe they can stop being 'so Brooklyn', show off some California skin..
Maybe they will stop acting like they are brainwashed cult members and 'make some noise' [via riding fuzzy buzzy slutwaves]...
U gotta think maybe it's not a bad thing that drummer Ali Koehler left the band if they are gonna be all about 'showing skin'...

Do u think u would be willing to care abt the Vivian Girls if they 'showed more skin'?
Do they look sexi in their bikini bodies?
Do u wish u were on the booze cruise?
Do u wish the captain had sank the booze cruise and the whole weirdo indie punk/fuzzy buzzy scene?
