TV on the Radio plays killer set at the NBA All Star Game

I just saw this video of TV on the Radio playing during the NBA All Star Game introductions. These Brooklyn alt rockers sure have come a long way, and it is good to finally see them getting some mainstream recognition. After the Arcade Fire won the Best Album Evr Grammy, u can't help but wonder, "Which indie band will be next?" TV on the Radio definitely has a shot...

The lead singer, Kyp Malone really crushes it, riffing hard on guitar. But why did he shave his memorable fro + beard? U get the feeling that the next TV on the Radio album is gonna be their best 1 yet, both critically and commercially.

Props 2 the TVs on the Radios for 'making it.' I know there's gonna be a big backlash abt them 'going mainstream' after this performance, but indie bands have to make money, too. What's wrong with that? More ppl know about them and get to hear them crush it on stage.

Is this a solid performance?
Do u think TVOTR needs 2 stop trying to sound all conceptual, and start making sweet ass rock n roll that every1 can love?
What is yalls fave TVOTR song?

"I want 2 get away
I want 2 fly...
away....
yeah....
yea...
ya...."

Jonsi wins the Nordic version of the Grammys. Is he the Nordic Win Butler?

It is awards season 4 all countries/regions of the world, and every1 is giving awards 2 who they think is the best artist/band from their part of the world. Did u know that Nordic countries have their own version of the Grammys/Junos/Brits/etc? It doesn't really look like a real awards show, looks more like a high school banquet held at Ruth's Chris Steakhouse. But u know, Nordic countries are kinda dying because they can't produce a relevant export for the modern world, so u gotta let them enjoy a steak dinner.

Anyways, Jonsi won the 'big award' of the night, making him 'The Arcade Fire' of Nordic countries [via Grammy Analogies]. I wonder if the Nordies should rebrand as 'The Nordies' 2 get more buzz.

there took place the very first Nordic Music Prize, intended, we hear, as the region's equivalent of the Mercury Prize. The winning record was Jonsi's Go, with the jury stating "The music of the winner could only have been made here, in the North. It sounds and almost smells like Iceland. It’s brave and life affirming pop music that grabs you by the heart in flamboyant technicolour."

Here are all of the Nordic countries. Do yall like music from Nordic ppl? Does this mean 'Scandinavian pop' is dead and 'Nordic indie' is the future?

Here is Jonsi looking all creepy and weird as he accepts the award. He says "I am bad at public speaking. I just make good music." Then he peaces out and says 'laters.'

did Jonsi make a great career move by deciding 2 'go solo' from Sigur Ros?

Should we move 2 Nordic lands and start a buzzband?
Are the Nordies more relevant than the Grammys/Brits/Junos?
Will u win a Nordic Music Prize 1 day?
Do yall think the Arcade Fire, Kanye West, and Radiohead deserve 2 win all indie awards?
Do u have a ghey Icelandic crush on Jonsi?

Architecture in Helsinki releases new mp3 2 try 2 be relevant again

[MP3]
Architecture in Helsinki Contact High

I remember Architecture in Helsinki used to be a 'fun, lovable indie band', back when indie was still meaningfulcore, and every1 used to cream their pants over foreign indie bands. But then a bunch of indie bands with baby voices and quirky fun brands started 2 release albums and no1 really cared. I don't even know if Archy in Helsink is from Scandinavia, the Ukraine, Australia or Iceland.

Anyways, Architecture in Helsinki has some new album coming out, so they released a new MP3.

Architecture In Helsinki are releasing their new album Moment Bends on May 3rd via Cooperative/Downtown/Modular. The announcement came packaged with a mp3 of a new song from the album called “Contact High”.

Can Architecture in Helsinki 'become relevant' again?
Is 'fun electro pop' still relevant?
Did u ever like them?
How many members does Archy in Helsinki even have?

Do yall know the name of the girl in Arch in Hels? Should she become the next relevant female alt celeb?

Natalie Portman and Dwight Schrute from The Office star in a new lame indie film 2gether

I just saw this new movie trailer for a film called "Hesher." It seems to star indie actress Natalie Portman, the guy who plays Dwight Schrute in The Office (named Rainn Wilson in real life), and Jason Gordon Levitt, the lamestreamer from the hit indie film "500 Days of Summer."

Overall, the movie seems horrible. I thought Natalie Portman had moved on beyond these types of roles in identity-less indie films. Oh well, at least she wore some really sweet child predator glasses 2 'really get in2' her character.

Can't believe Rainn Wilson was allowed 2 be in another film. I think he has over 1 million twitter followers, but not really sure if any1 cares abt him as an artist/actor.

He tries 2 act all serious [via growing a beard and acting despondent], but of course, it looks like a big joke, and u just wait for Steve Carrell 2 tell him 2 'get back 2 work.'

I remember his last film was one of the biggest flops in the history of movies.

Here is a picture of Jason Gordon Levitt, who played Zooey Deschanel's indie lil bitch in 500 Days of Summer. He plays trailer trash in this movie, and probably thinks he will get nominated 4 an Academy Award.

I feel rlly bad 4 every1 involved in creating 'Hesher.' Maybe it would have 'worked' 10-20 years ago if it had an indie soundtrack filled with tons of indie artists, but now just looks like a big pile of indie cheese.

Does this movie 'look horrible'?
Do u h8 indie quirky dramedies 'abt lower middle class life'?
Will Jason Gordon Levitt ever 'make it' as an indie actor, or will he always just be a teen actor?
Do u think Natalie Portman's career has 'regressed' by taking this role?
Can Rainn Wilson pull of a 'serious role' 2 get his post-Office career going, or will his career basically 'go in the tank' when the Office is cancelled?
Do u <3 indie films that are 'trying rlly hard' 2 look indie'?

Gay Indie Piano Man Rufus Wainwright has a child, becomes gay indie father

Posted: 21 Feb 2011 07:51 AM PST

Rufus Wainwright is some homosexual indie singer who used to be buzzworthy in the 1990s, but I am not really sure if he is even still relevant. Anyways, he is gay, and he is now the father 2 a baby with his homosexual lover Jorn Weisbrodt. I guess that's chill. Kinda weird living in our modern world where gay ppl can have babies, but after the hit film MILK, anything can happen.

Darling daughter Viva Katherine Wainwright Cohen was born on February 2, 2011 in Los Angeles, California to proud parents Lorca Cohen, Rufus Wainwright and Deputy Dad Jorn Weisbrodt. The little angel is evidently healthy, presumably happy and certainly very very beautiful.

Daddy #1 would like to offer everyone a digital cigar and welcome the little lady in with a French phrase from his favorite folk song, A La Claire Fontaine : "Il y a longtemps que je t'aime, jamais je ne t'oublierai."

CORRECTION: In many of the articles announcing the birth of Viva Katherine Wainwright Cohen, Lorca Cohen is characterized as "the surrogate." Of course, she is no such thing. She did not carry the child for someone else. Lorca Cohen is the mother of the baby and Rufus Wainwright is the father.

I don't think any1 really cares, but I guess it was chill of him to have a baby to 'get his name back out there.' I am not sure how gay ppl can have babies, but I remember there was that pregnant man that 1 time, so I guess u could ask him.

Is Rufus Wainwright 'indie' or a 'failed mainstream' artist?
Did Duncan Sheik have a better career than Rufus Wainwright?
Did Rufus Wainwright inspire the current crop of homosexual indie stars?
Which openly gay indie alt celeb will be the next one 2 carry a child?

The Cobrasnake spotted bronoodling with a Jonas Brother

Posted: 20 Feb 2011 07:32 PM PST

I just saw this picture of Joe Jonas, 1 of the Jonas Brothers 'trying 2 be alt' by hanging out with popular alt photographer "The Cobrasnake." Not sure who I'd rather be, though... A relevant global alt celeb, or a tween celeb bro who is 'growing scruff' and trying to prove that he is more than just some tween.

Sorta just wish I coulda been a child star
Rode Disney Waves
then turned 18
rode slutwaves/released cock pix
doing tons of salvia wave drugs
Ending up in a VH1 reality show
via the Two Coreys
and dying
by age 40
[via Haim]

G-d Bless us, every famous tween.

Who would yall rather be: a Disney tween or a 'party photog'?
Are the Jonas Brothers still tween relevant?
