Panda Bear finally releases new MP3. Was it 'worth the wait'? Posted: 11 Feb 2011 10:30 AM PST [MP3] Panda Bear Last Night at the Jetty Panda Bear just released this new MP3 called "Last Night at the Jetty", a song about hangin out at the jetty last night. Finally... So many blog centuries later... We finally get to 'taste' TOMBOY. Open ur ears... and see if ur heart is ready 2 forgive Panda for letting us down by not releasing TOMBOY in 2k11. Is this the #1 new MP3 of 2k11? Was it 'worth the wait'? Do u feel like crying, thinking abt what 2k10 'coulda been' if Panda had 'saved it'? Is this song better than most AnCo songs? Do yall wish yall hung out at jetties? Has Noah 'regained' his 'mojo'? Will there be a critical 'Panda Bear backlash' or will his album 'deliver'? Is Avey 'pissed' that TOMBOY will be better than his album? What is ur analysis of this 'song'? Does it represent 'enough growth' since Person Pitch? Will Panda Bear live shows still be 'effing terrible' even if you enjoy this MP3/album? Who will get a higher score: The Strokes or Panda Bear? Will the Strokes hoard all of Panda Bear's overground marketshare potential? |
Does Katy Perry still look like a Grade A slutwaver without photoshop magic? Posted: 11 Feb 2011 09:17 AM PST I was looking at this .gif of Katy Perry that shows how Rolling Stone had to 'photoshop' her in order to make her look '100% hot.' They took a lil bit off the tummie, popped the breasts so they weren't just 'big and saggy', and added some more colour/shine 2 her skin, and probably a lot more stuff that makes her look 'perfect.' Maybe Rolling Stone thought that it would 'save their magazine' by making Katy Perries breasts look way bigger. It sorta made me wonder... Is Lady Gaga the most authentic slutwaver because she is kinda ugly, but she just compensates by starving herself and exposing as much of her body as possible? Has Katy Perry just used 'Hollywood magic' 2 become a top slutwaver? Do magazines 'cheat' 2 airbrush + photoshop women 2 look hot? Is our society 'truly effed up' when a slutwaver can't even show her goodies without the pressure to 'look perfect'? Shame on Rolling Stone. Shame on Katy Perrier. They are rlly not helping tween body image issues. For all of our female readers, it's okay 2 show off ur body even if ur 'thick.' Real Women Don't Photoshop. G-d Blss us, every1. The Strokes reveal new cover art for "Angles." Is it a letdown? Posted: 11 Feb 2011 07:25 AM PST I just saw the album art for The Strokes' new album Angeles. Can't help but be a little bit scared after their first song was sorta just a branded Strokes song letdown [link]. The album cover seems to feature a lot of angles. It must be some sort of metaphor or something. It seems like this album cover might be ripping off the popular video game Q-Bert. Just a bunch of angles. Living in a video game alternate reality or something. Hopping around. Trying to gain points. UPDATE: Sources say that this game rips off Crystal Castles (the retro video game, not the buzzband). Screen shots of game play Should Crystal Castles (the buzzband) sue the Strokes for ripping off the video game that they stole their name from? How do u think this Strokes album cycle is gonna go? Will the Strokes 'let us down' or are they just another overground rock band? Will this be the 'album of the year'? R u worried that this album art is too similar to the MGMT aesthetic, therefore it will 'crash and burn'? Are u on #TeamStrokes or do u doubt their ability 2 write a relevant album in the modern indiesphere? Should Jack White just join the Strokes? |
INFOGRAPHIC: How many hits do ur favourite music blogs + streaming services get? Posted: 11 Feb 2011 06:47 AM PST If you’re red-green color blind then this is going to hurt. Based on estimated traffic data from Compete, this visualization depicts web-based music consumption in the U.S. in 2010. Included are websites where music is streamed and/or downloaded. Due to accurate sample rate availability (and in the interest of sanity) websites with less than 100,000 monthly visits are omitted. The map is to scale. Larger map areas represent higher website traffic. Green indicates positive growth in 2010. Red indicates negative growth in 2010. I just looked at this infographic that attempted to demonstrate how many hits some of the most popular music sites on the internet get. It makes me kinda sad that there there aren't very many music blogs on this infographic, maybe demonstrating how music listeners would rather 'discover music' based on an algorithm. Anyways, what do u think of this infographic? What music streaming service do u use? Is Rhapsody 'alt'? eMusic? Should I get a new Napster account? Is Soundcloud 'legit' or do they just allow illegal streams on their site? Do u think all of these 'successful' sites will eventually just get purchased by iTunes and exist outside of the browser? Also here is an 'infographic' that represents how many more hits youtube gets for streaming music purposes than every other service on the internet. Also 'pandora' is way more popular than a lot of these sites. Then they talked abt how popular Rolling Stone, NPR, Pitchfork Media, and the Pirate Bay are. Bonus tracks: Right now The Pirate Bay gets as much traffic as MTV.com. Based on its current trajectory Pandora will soon surpass The New York Times. The most popular music magazine online is Rolling Stone—2.2M visits in December 2010. The most popular music blog is Pitchfork—1.4M visits in December 2010—like two Hype Machines. NPR is in the same ballpark as Last.fm. What can Pitchfork do to 'get more hits' than Rolling Stone, or will it lose its 'indie cred' [via 'going mainstream']? Should all music just be free? Has Hype Machine 'gone down the shitter'? [via too many crappy remixes + blogs] Has NPR 'taken over' the indie music marketplace? So many hits... So many users searching 4 an authentic streaming experience. Would u rather start a 'music blog' or a 'streaming music discovery service'? Are all of these websites 'stealing money from artists' or do they legitimately help artists reach wider audiences? Do u hope every music site on the internet 'goes under'? Who is going to 'win' when more Walmart-core people start streaming music instead of buying it at Walmart? Are there enough hits on the internet for every1? Do yall use spotify, pandora or last fm? R u sad that iTunes purchases Lala? What streaming app do u use on ur iPhone / android / blackberry? Do u just stream videos on youtubes? Do u just illegally download rapidshare + mediafire + megaupload indie leaks? What music website will 'win the internet'? |
Lamestreamers on Facebook have convo abt how much they h8 Carles Posted: 10 Feb 2011 06:02 PM PST Facebook is a place where mainstreamers, lamestreamers, middle aged people, and bros and girls and tweens talk abt life, issues, teen issues, tv shows, music, and vent their true feelings abt life/love. After so many lamestreamers have had tons of convos about buzzbands... It seems like these streamers finally 'stood up' and 'spoke out' against Carles of the popular weblog HIPSTER RUNOFF. First some really chill bro pastes a link to a HIPSTER RUNOFF story abt Karen O riding slutwaves. Another chill bro is like "ROLLING ON THE FLOOR LAUGHING MY ASS OFF." Then some autheticstreamer is like "U still read HRO? Shit died a LONG time ago when they started hiring ppl to write the posts. Carles sux." Then a chill bro is like "listen bro. Ur inauthentic as eff." Then some1 says "Carles is a fucking ass hole. I hate that piece of shit." Then some1 else is like "Carles doesn't even like buzzbands. He doesn't care abt the indie scene. Eff him." Then they argue more and basically talk abt how Carles + the HISPTER RUNOFF brand has 'gone down the pooper' Finally a chill lamestreamer is like "Oh Carles. Whenever I like a band, he declares them 2 be mnstrm/lamestream/overground." ******** Has HRO 'gone down the shitter'? Does Carles 'totally suck'? What buzzbands has Carles 'openly liked' in the history of HIPSTER RUNOFF? Are you a lamestreamer if u read HIPSTER RUNOFF? Are all of these bros right? Should Carles 'shut it down'? When was the last time Carles made a 'good post'? What is the future of HRO? Is HRO abt 2 die? Has Carles died? Have lamestreamers taken over the alt scene/blogosphere/tastemaking economy? |
