LCD Soundsystem arguably peaked between 3-5 years ago, but they released some album last year and it seemed to have performed well, both critically and commercially. However, James Murphy, the band's frontman says that they are 'breaking up' / 'playing their last show ever.' Clearly, this won't be their last show ever. U know deep down they are just gonna 'reunite' in _ years just to make more money on their ticket sales. Maybe they'll reunite for charity. Most likely, they will reunite to 'headline Coachella' or something gimmicky like that.

Cmon Jimmy Murphy. Why do u have 2 lie 2 us?
R u tired of paying all of the ppl in ur band?
Did LCD Soundsystem 'peak' _ years ago?
Is LCD Soundy 'effing up' by retiring because they have finally conquered overground markets?

I guess they are trying to fill up an arena or something, playing MSG as their final show.

LCD Soundsystem have announced that they will play their final show on Saturday, April 2, at New York City's Madison Square Garden. LCD frontman James Murphy had promised before the release of their 2010 album This Is Happening that it would serve as their victory lap, and indeed it has.

Here he is saying that he is basically 'too scared' to keep pursuing both a 10.0 AND the opportunity 2 go mainstream. Feel like he needs to understand that he was put on this Earth in order 2 attempt to make buzzworthy mp3s. He should probably stay in the band, and keep 'banging' alt skanks.

Murphy spoke with us about the LCD's pending breakup last July before their epic closing set at the Pitchfork Music Festival, saying, "It's all just gotten bigger than I planned or wanted. Not that I'm against it but I don't want to get bigger. What's the goal now-- get fucking huge? I don't want to be a famous person. It's fucking great where we are. I get on an airplane and nobody has any idea who I am. I just want to do other stuff. And since we know we're not gonna do another record I feel freer to do the biggest shit I possibly can. Like, 'Fuck it, we should play Madison Square Garden.'"

He continued: "If I thought there was another record, I'd be very uncomfortable and anxious about it and what it was going to do to my life. Putting an end to it frees me up to have fun; it's like knowing your mortality. As a kid that always wanted to make music, I couldn't have dreamed of a better place to be than where I'm at right now. I didn't even know this place existed-- to play with your friends and be really satisfied and happy. It's not so bad."

Will Panda Bear retire due 2 anxiety?
Is James Murphy 'pussing out' on his career?
Does he need to 'stick it out' and keep writing songs that can be used in quirky comedy trailers? [via Drunk Girls]
Is he making a huge mistake now that they have established themselves as NPR's #1 electro band and they are guaranteed to sell 70k+ albums 2 lamestreamers?
Is it gonna be annoying when LCD Soundsystem 'plays their last show' and every1 in the greater-NYC area is tweeting abt how meaningful it is?
Is James Murphy's career/life 'gonna go down the shitter' or will it improve dramatically now that he is quitting his buzzband?
Isn't the point in life to 'get buzzworthy' then 'transcend buzzworthiness'? Rlly confused by James Murphy's retirement from indie, but if he want to spend more time working on James Murphy's House of Pancakes, u gotta let him follow his passion.
