Every time u see Ali Koehler drumming on stage during Letterman [link] or Fallon or opening for Weezer or meeting Justin Bieber, u can't help but wonder 'what if' she had stayed in the Vivian Girls? Would she have a fulfilling fuzzy buzzy band life? Why was Best Coast more successful than the Vivian Girls when they had a head start on Bethany?

Sufjan Stevens hasn't stopped wearing his zany electro altbro costumes Posted: 01 Feb 2011 03:08 PM PST Photos by Riley Denham
Oh Sufjy...What a fashion disaster... Really wish he would stop wearing neon Post It notes. Sufjy is such a QT, too. He doesn't have 2 hide his beautiful face behind some sort of electro bag lady costume. |
Panda Bear gives interview, say TOMBOY is a 'guitar rock' album. R u worried? Posted: 01 Feb 2011 10:26 AM PST
The interviewer asks Broah 'what the eff took so long, bro?'
Do u believe 'Panda'? Anyways, they also uncovered the fact that TOMBOY is being branded as a 'guitar rock' album. Wonder if it is gonna sound like the 1990s or something.
I guess sample-based music is 'no longer relevant.' I wonder what the new 2k10 sound is like. Really hope new album doesn't sound like the White Stripes. R u gonna miss the days when Panda twisted knobs on stage + pressed buttons? PREVIOUSLY |
Best Coast goes on Letterman, sounds grungy, rambles on abt Snacks Posted: 01 Feb 2011 08:08 AM PST I just watched Best Coast play on Letterman. It seems like Letterman doesn't have enough 'indie buzzbands' in his rolodex so it takes him forever to get relevant buzzbands on his show. Or maybe the music industry is 'running out of acts' so they need as many random indie bands as possible 2 fill up the last 5 minutes Anyways, Best Coast went on Letterman, and they sounded kinda grungy. Not very fuzzy buzzy. Bethany sounded pretty alright, but other 2 members looked 'danked out of their minds. I wonder if Bethany was 'blazed' or if maybe she performs at a higher level when she doesn't dank hard, but maybe she danked harder than evr [via nervousness]. First Letterman is like 'there's a cat on this album cover' because u know he has never heard any Best Coast mp3s before. Then after the performance, he tells her "broski, there's a cat on ur album cover." And she is like "His name is Snacks." Then he looks at her like he is one of his interns and he wants to 'make love' 2 her on top of his desk. Did Bethany look totally keut during her performance? Do u feel bad for WAVVES because they are on tour 2gether? |
Does the new Toro Y Moi mp3 sound like he has 'abandoned the chillwave genre'? Posted: 01 Feb 2011 07:21 AM PST
Just listened to this new Toro Y Moi mp3 off his upcoming album "Underneath the Pine." The song is called "New Beat" and it seems like the song is a direct message to all of the ppl who 'try to label his sound as chillwave.' The song has 2 be about 'leaving the genre behind', 'transcending pop indie', and just 'being urself', vibing to the beat of ur own wave. Is 'chillwave' dying? Do u <3 the new Toro Y Moi MP3? |
