Ariel Pink is a lofi indie rock singer frontman of the popular indie band Ariel Pink's Haunted Graffiti. It seems like he is 'touring across the world', living like a rock star, getting tons of pussie, going crazy, doing drugs, boozing, and falling in love in every city.

It seems like things 'took a turn for the krazie' when he 'went insane' and tried to make out with every1 in the front row of his concert.

Were u there?
did u make out with every1 on stage?

Worried abt him. He really has 'that look in his eye' that really says 'i'm hornie.'

Seems like he 'flicks off the camera', says 'eff haters'

Then says 'I don't give a fuck' and smokes a cigarette on stage.

Is Ariel Pink 'losing it'?
Has he 'lost his marbles'? [via HOOK]
Have yall ever made out with an indie star during a concert?
Do u think 'making out with fans' is the new crowdsurfing?
Do u think Ariel Pink has good breath?
Do u think he is a good kisser?
Does Ariel Pink seem 'too hornie' 4 his own good?
R u worried abt Ariel, or is he just riding euphoric waves, celebrating his 2k10?
Are artists trying to make a 'final push' to be the most memorable band of 2k10?

NYTimes writes article abt how chain franchises are 'invading' Brooklyn

Posted: 15 Nov 2010 02:42 PM PST

Apparently Brooklyn is a 'super alt' place where 'tons of effing hipsters live' and every1 likes to be authentic, support local vendors and buy organic, but now that a bunch of poor/middle class ppl live there, they basically needs cheapness + convenience + decent quality so now Brooklyn is getting a bunch of chain restaurants/stores/everything.

Do u have chain stores in ur area?
Do u prefer the cost, convenience, and experience of a standardized franchised experience?
Do u support 'mom and pop' stores, or are they failures because they didn't have a business model to 'go national'?
Should Brooklyn get a Walmart?

For many residents it signaled that dreaded chain stores — symbols of all things corporate and uninspired — were about to breach the industrial neighborhood turned bastion of the young, do-it-yourself and arty. Bedford Avenue, which runs parallel to the waterfront for the entire length of Williamsburg, is a lively mix of the kind of retailers that have all but disappeared in Manhattan: independent coffee shops, record stores, drugstores, boutiques, jewelry stores, bookshops and even a local bank, Cross County Federal Savings Bank.

Do u think chain stores / restaurants / grocery centres / Whole Foodses are chill places 2 shop?
Have u ever moved 2 a relevant city and missed the convenience of

Now CVS is building a store in the Edge, another waterfront high-rise a block north of the Duane Reade on Kent Avenue. And it looks as if Starbucks may replace the ever-popular Bagel Store on Bedford Avenue when its lease runs out next year.

"Duane Reade is greed," Jonathan Schmidt said after shopping at Kings Pharmacy. That store is directly across Bedford from the new two-story, 24-hour Duane Reade, which features aspirin, liquor, cosmetics, stationery, frozen food, cold cuts and produce, including three kinds of cherry tomatoes. "It's becoming the East Village."

Here is some Brooklyn Lady with a Baby. It seems like it is hard 2 be a parent in Brooklyn because they don't sell diapers in the bulk 4 ur baby since u r supposed to be 'green' and use cloth diapers or something

A newcomer to Williamsburg from Manhattan, Ms. Lind said she found the neighborhood to be very inconvenient. Many of the chic stores refuse to take credit cards. And, she said, the quaint gourmet coffee shops charge too much. She said she sent an e-mail to Food Emporium imploring the company to open a supermarket in Williamsburg.

"For some reason," she said of her neighbors, "they don't want corporate stores. They don't want convenience."

do yall <3 convenience, or do u want to 'stay authentic' even when ur a consumer.

Here is some guy who was quoted saying 'gentrification' just 2 try 2 sound smart:

"I guess you'd call it the gentrification of Williamsburg," Mr. Winick said.

Wish I could be a landlord in Brooklyn who was 'getting rid' of the cheap mom-and-pop tenants and making 'big bucks' from huge corporate giants who would pay me whatever I want.

"Williamsburg used to be known for a type of idealism," Mr. Rossillo said. "Williamsburg landlords have taken a different view. If they can squeeze blood from a rock, they will."

His said his landlord wanted to double his rent to almost $15,000 a month when the lease is up next year. When he complained, the landlord said that Starbucks was willing to pay that much.

"I can't pay it," he said. "I don't have Starbucks money. I'm a small business."

But the landlord, Samuel Backer, said he was not trying to push out "the little guy."

"I've given them every opportunity to renew the lease at fair market rents," he said.

Do u think small shop owners think they deserve 'special rights' 2 keep them from having to pay 'tons of money' even though that is the current market rate?

Is Brooklyn the new suburbia?
Is it no longer 'alt' 2 want to move 2 Brooklyn bc there are just a bunch of chain restaurants?
Will this make Brooklyn 'more affordable'?
Do u hope Times Square moves 2 Brooklyn?
Now that Brooklyn is 'gentrified' / retailed-out, will there be a new alt city?
Does Portland let gimmicky franchises in2 their city?
Should I just move to Houston, TX and embrace The_Suburbs?
Is WalMart a new relevant alt hangout?
Do u think this is what Brooklyn will look like in 5 years?

Does this look like 'utopia' 2 u?

BREAKING: Neon Indian Bro gets a haircut, does he look totes keut?

Posted: 15 Nov 2010 11:54 AM PST

Neon Indian Bro, known in the real world as "Alan Palermo", is known for his hit 2k9 album Psychic Chasms. It seems like he has 'toured around the world', becoming a relevant indie musician, and now every1 is all like "What is 2k11 going to be all about?" cuz Neon Indian will probably have a 'sophomore album.'

In order to 'rebrand himself' and start anew, it seems like he 'chopped off all of his hair.' This is probably to help him 'focus' on nothing but the music, and let fans know that he is 'rebranded.' Sorta reminds me of when a soldier 'enlists' and they make him get a buzz cut in order 2 'give up their personal brand' and every1 looks the same so they can focus on fighting terrorism.

Do u think Neon Indian bro chopping his hair off is the beginning of the end of the chillwave era?
Is chillwave dead?
Do u miss his curly locks?
How much money would u pay to own his chopped off hair?
Do u think any crazy fans stalk him, and tried to make a wig out of his hair?
Do u <3 his new personal brand?
Would u bet money on Neon Indian to write the 'Album of 2k11'?

Joanna Newsom tries 2 revive her career by posing in GorillaVsBear polaroids

Posted: 15 Nov 2010 08:36 AM PST

Hi Joanna
Long time no meme
Are things good with u?
Ur album came out in 2k10, right?

Toootally forgot abt that 1
but I guess that's bc it wasn't 'radio friendly'
'blog friendly'
'indie music news site friendly'

Kinda isolated ur 'fans'
Didn't really 'pull a Feist'
go mainstream
instead u just played ur harp wave

That's cool
U've got talent
I give u props
But cmon Joanna

I just wanted to vibe out to some sensitive female indie music
that can be remixed by relevant electro DJ producers
Instead u really rode the Renaissance Fair wave
Not sure what ur deal is

Maybe u were trying to build a time machine or something

I guess posing on Gorilla Vs Bear was a good idea or something
Maybe get 'authentic indie bro fans' back on ur side
but maybe u shoulda shown more skin
Rode some slutwaves or something
I don't even know at this point

Guess maybe u can re-emerge in 2 years with a new album
but who knows if ur fan base will still be intact
or if they will have given up
and moved on 2 Feist again

Oh Joanna...
I miss ur memes
and ur unbloggable music
but ur kinda keut
so I guess ur still bloggable
Guess there are some definite 'pluses' 2 being a keut female in indie music

Do yall miss Joanna Newsom?
Is her career 'revived' after these GVB polaroids?
Did Joanna Newsom release the most forgettable album of 2k10?
R u on #TeamJoJo or #TeamFeist?
Can Joanna Newsom 'come back' and 'get more fans' or is she 'done for'?
Should she 'ditch the harp' and maybe play some synths, or will her album sound as 'terrible' as Sufjan's electro album?

Girl Talk comes out of retirement, releases 'new album'

Posted: 15 Nov 2010 06:45 AM PST

I am not sure what Girl Talk's deal is. Is he relevant? Is he a DJ? Is he blggbl? Seems like he has 'been off the radar' for what seems like 100 blog years, but now he decides to 'drop' a new mixtape/album. Not sure if I will vibe hard to it. Gregg Gillis used to be a bloghouse DJ inspiration, since he was a mainstreamer trapped in a mainstream job, but then he 'became a relevant indie figure' because of his zany DJ album Night Ripper. Not sure if that album was 'good', 'special', or just came out 'at the right place + right time in indie history' so ppl were all post-ironic abt it.

Remember when Girl Talk was 'alt'/'underground', and then he became a college bro entry level lamestreamer wave DJ? Can Girl Talk 'go mainstream'? Did the chillwave era hijack Gregg Gillis's ultimate goal to 'create new songs out of old songs' in a non-DJ kind of way?

His newest album/mixtape 'All Day' seems like some sort of effort to 'leave a mark' on 2k10 bc it is a weak musical year and he probs just wants a new album so he can go make thousands of dollars per nite on college campuses.

All Day is intended to be listened to as a whole.
It is broken up into individual tracks only for easier navigation.

This album is a free download.
Girl Talk thanks all artists sampled. A full list will be posted in the future.

Here is the album art. Seems like the skeleton of some dude who probably died when a stage collapsed on him during a Girl Talk Concert.

Here is some 'disclaimer' [via 'the law'] that he put on the website, probably so he doesn't get sued::

All Day by Girl Talk is licensed under a Creative Commons Attribution-Noncommercial license. The CC license does not interfere with the rights you have under the fair use doctrine, which gives you permission to make certain uses of the work even for commercial purposes. Also, the CC license does not grant rights to non-transformative use of the source material Girl Talk used to make the album.

R u gonna listen to this 'album'?
Do ppl still find the Girls Talks 2 be fun/exciting?
Is his gimmick 'tired'?
Is Girl Talk's brand gonna 'live 4evr' or is he 'effed' in the modern indiesphere?
Should Girl Talk score the soundtrack to the next Girls Gone Wild DVD?
Has Girl Talk already 'tapped out his market share'?
Can Girl Talk top the 8.4 that he got in 2k6?

R u gonna listen 2 his new shit or is it 'not even worth it'?
Did Girl talk 'save' 2k10?
Or does this mean that 2k10 is officially 'the worst year in indie music history in the history of indie music'?
Is sample-based music 'dead'?

Protecting urself from Toxic Vibes @ Relevant Music Festivals

Walking around
a relevant music festival
I don't usually venture outside of my 1 bedroom apartment
Usually just listen to buzzbands home alone in my undies
smoking dank
TV on mute in the background

Decided to hit up a music festival
Check out these bands 'in the flesh'
but I got bummed
when I saw the other kinds of ppl who are into these bands

So many entry-level vibes
So many inauthentic vibes
So many consumer indie vibes
So many unchill vibes

I feel like even thought I am an 'early adopter' 4 most of these bands
on the front line of tastemaking + buzzhyping
Maybe it's not worth it any more
if this music is gonna just reach entrylevvies

I wear this mask
2 keep my personal brand safe
from toxic vibes
I don't want to breathe

No I'm not afraid of
dust
pollution
allergens
swine flu
regular flu
buzz flu
human pappylommy virus

I'm ashamed of myself
for attending
this music festival
Maybe I don't like music
if this is a celebration of it
I don't wanna be a part of the indiesphere
If this is the best way 4 bands 2 make money
Then maybe I don't want bands to make buzz dollars

I went to a music festival to feel less alone
2 connect with humanity/ppl with similar interests
but now I just wanna retreat
sit at home alone
the glow of the Macbook screen on my skin

I don't want 2 connect with any1
I want to be alone
I don't want to listen to buzzbands
I don't want to be 'alt'

Goodnite world.

Sometimes I wish I had the balls
to breathe in the lamestream air
and commit suicide
lungs filled with toxic vibes
dead 4evr

Just another 'dead on the inside' lamestreamer
Thinking that life is fulfilling
indie music is 'fun' and 'unique'
like my life is going 2 get better

I h8 buzzbands
because they make me realize
that I'm 34 years old
and I haven't done one goddamned buzzworthy thing with my life.

////
Do u have fun at music festivals or are they 4 entry levels?
Do u wear gas masks/protective masks 2 music festivals?
Does ur brand become less authentic when ur in the presence of lamestreamers-trying-2-be-alt?
When u see buzzbands 'live', do u feel like 'part of something bigger than urself' or do u feel 'more alone than evr'?
