It seems like Phoenix is ‘the most mainstream indie band in the world’, possibly right behind the Arcade Fires. A few mainstream sports bros had a sweet facebook convo about a band called Phoenix. Have yall heard of them? Are they too underground for ur bro brand, or has Phoenix gone ‘more mainstream than ever’?
It seems like a college bro first starts out the convo by saying he ‘aced’ his calculus class, and is vibing out to Phoenix until it is time to drink brews and watch live sports.
Then a confused bro is like ‘Huh? Phoenix? Is that the guy from Linkin Park’s solo project?’
College bro sends out a youtube link to the hit Phoenix song “1901.”
Linkin Park bro is then like “Oh ya… heard that shit on the NHL 2k10 video game, bitches.”

Just saw some pix on Pitchfork Media of Avey Tare and Deakin doing a super exclusive DJ set as ‘Animal Collective DJs.’ I am not sure what this means, since AnCo is a 4 person band and 2 bros are missing. Wonder if there is ‘revenue sharing’ or if Avey and Deak are gonna ‘hog’ those profits. Anyways, just feeling super paranoid, since Panda Bear and Avey Tare are going to have a ‘head to head battle’ since they both have solo project albums coming out pretty soon.

Even though he is dead, Michael Jackson is releasing a new album. I remember when Tupac did this, and it meant he is ’still alive’ since his music had a bunch of references to ’shit that happened after he died. An all-new Michael Jackson collection featuring 10 unreleased songs will be released this November, a rep for the Jackson estate exclusively tells Rolling Stone. At the time of his death Jackson reportedly left hard drives filled with unheard music, much of it recorded during the King of Pop’s ’80s peak.

Kirsten Kennis is suing Vampire Weekend cuz she says they used her picture without asking, then made millions of dollars because people bought her album cuz her face is pretty. N e ways, it seems like she talked to a local Connecticut paper, uncovering background/secrets about herself.

Neigher added that Kennis’ photo was a “substantial factor in generating recognition and buzz for the `Contra’ album, thus increasing sales and profits directly benefiting each defendant to (her) detriment.”
“It’s just not right they’re using it everywhere,” Kennis said.

Justin Timberlake is the popular lead singer of the boy band NSYNC. Soon, he will probably go solo, and attempt to carve out his own personal brand in a crazy pop world blogosphere. Most white people think that they will become ‘professional athletes’ when they are young since they excel at the YMCA/CYO/regional youth sports league level, but then they never grow taller than 6 feet, and their high school coaches prefer to utilize the naturally gifted African Americans.
