HIPSTER RUNOFF

HIPSTER RUNOFF

Do u think girls who buzz off sections of their hair are sexie?

Have yall ever seen girls who have regular girl hair, but then they use men’s clippers to shave off part of their hair? It seems weird to me, like they are trying to break free from some sort of societal norm. Women are supposed to have long, beautiful, healthy hair, so any time a woman has short hair, there is a ‘backlash’ agains them, since they are ‘trying to be a man.’

Do u think progressive sectional buzz cutting of women’s hair is sexy / authentic?
Feel like this trend is for a type of altbaguette who are more than just rich girls pretending to be alt / tragic.

Should I buy my GF a set of hair clippers for her birthday to ’send a strong message’ that she needs to step up her game and buzz off some of her hair?

Seems like u can buzz any section of your hair, and it will make you 40-60% more interesting

Does n e 1 know if Rihanna is alt for buzzing off part of her hair, or is it less authentic when a black girl buzzes off their hair since their hair is ‘less manageable’ than the soft hair of a white woman?

Should I buzz off the majority of my GF’s hair against her will?

Should I just give her a sensible fade / wedge haircut with hair clippers?

What is the most authentic hair style for a woman? Are bangs still sexy, or did Zooey Deschanel ‘kill’ that trend?

Is it time for women to start buzzing of sections of their hair?
Should all women be required to shave their pubic hair?
If a girl shaves off part of her hair, do u think she is probably a dyke?
Will women ever become as powerful as men?
if Hillary Clinton had a buzz cut, would she have won the President of the World Vote?
Are women with short hair ‘intimidating’, or does it make u want to tell them to ‘grow their hair out, stop wearing pants, and get in the kitchen’?

Indie core band makes violent video where a pee pee and a head are chopped off.

is a band who won critical acclaim at the tail end of the blog house after Crystal Castles remixed one of their songs. Now they have focused on strengthening their conceptual + live hardcore show brand to appeal to modern internet indie music fans.

The video was directed by Eric Wareheim, who may or may not have become the ‘Spike Jonez’ of the internet buzzband era.

This song is called ‘We Are Water’, and I probably wouldn’t have listened to it if it didn’t have a video that ’sucked me in.’ Was probably a good idea to make it a violent meme. Always interested in seeing penis / taint stabbings + decapitations. In the video, some fat rapist man is chasing a hot alt skank who is wearing a blonde wig. Probably some sort of allusion to an old movie / story or something.

Is this video ‘interesting’, both visually + storytelling-wise?
Is relevant?
Is Eric Wareheim the ‘greatest music video director of our generation’?
If you are in a buzzband, and u want people to pay attention 2 ur video, should u hire Eric Wareheim?
Is this video too violent to be on MTV?
Who is the greatest indie music video director of all time?
Is this video supposed to be funny, or some sort of commentary on women’s rights + abusive relationships?
Have you ever had ur penis or head cut off?

iTunes creates a ‘chillwave’ section in the electronic area of their store

Posted: 11 Apr 2010 11:56 AM PDT

Apple created as a way to control the digital music industry + make sweet money off tweens who get gift cards for holidays and birthdays. Basically the concept behind the store is to give consumers an easy place to find and purchase mp3s so that people use fill their iPod as a personal branding tool.

Under the electronic section of their store, they created a ‘Ride the Chillwave’ section. Not sure if chillwave should be under ‘electronic’ or maybe under indie rock.

Feel like chillwave has made it. First Neon Indian in an iPhone commercial, now an entire chillwave section. Feel like we have to assume that the Apple team listens to blog buzz mp3s while they design new products.

Glad that they are behind ‘the movement.’

Are all of these bands chillwave?
Is Nite Jewel / Memory Tapes / jj really chillwave?
Is chillwave dead? Was chillwave never alive?
Has the genre term ‘chillwave’ helped these artists, or will it hurt them in the long run?
Do u support ‘the chillwave movement’?
Do u support ‘the glo-fi movement’?
Does this make u want to buy an extra iPad just to support ‘the_movement’?
Did steal the name of this section from one of the most infamous chillwave videos of all time?

CNN ‘covers’ kewl buzzband from the UK called the XX. Have u heard of them?

For some reason, CNN decided to cover the indie buzzband the XX. Even though they are 1000 blog years old in blog years, the XX are still ‘kewl’ to blurb about in the mainstream media. I am not sure why CNN even created this piece. Maybe they see that music blogs are getting mad hits, so they are trying to ‘cock block’ the alternative media. Maybe they have tons of unpaid interns and they aren’t sure what to do with them.

Seems like the intro of the article has a ‘great’ intro that really makes me want to get into this band

Perfectly imperfect, they are the xx: A modest yet impressive band touring the world and beginning to make waves in the indie music industry.

Think they also tried to make it seem like they are hardcore indie do-it-yourselfers:

That hybrid piqued the interest of high-profile producers like Diplo, who have worked with M.I.A. and Santogold, but in true indie fashion, Smith — a.k.a. Jamie xx — turned them down so the band could create their self-titled album on their own.

The girl in the band also claims that they didn’t know AT&T was a huge corporation/what they sold/any sort of company info, so they didn’t realize their Olympic themed commercial would get them such ‘mad exposure’ [ft Apolo Anton Ohno]

The band understands the need for marketing but stays cautious. As Croft said, “I don’t feel too comfortable about putting our music on everything, just to put it to anything just for the sake of money.”

I feel most worried about the other bro in their band. The bro who plays the drum pad thingy with his fingers. Not only do I fear that he will get carpal tunnel syndrome, but I also fear that he is depressed.

Worried about u, Jamie XX. Feel like he might be ‘down’ about being ‘the other guy’ of the band, but still assuming the position as ‘production mastermind.’ Is he depressed like a chillwave bro?

Which member of the XX seems most goth /depressed?
Should Am Appy give the XX a sponsorship and put them in pastels / bright colours?
Will the XX rebrand in 2k12, choose a new font, and a new color to build their brand around?
Is CNN the new Pitchfork?
Who will have a more fruitful career/better second album: The XX or Neon Indian?
Will mainstream media outlets replace mp3 blogs?
R yall happy u found out about the XX from CNN?
Should I start a band called the CNNXX as a tribute to this web content?
