HIPSTER RUNOFF

Am Appy exploits Lookbook alt tween labor to extend their brand.

.nu is a popular website where alternative teens, tweens, and unemployed 20 year olds who still want to break into the fashion industry but just end up taking pictures of themselves in their parents backyard congregate to compare modern fashion. The site promotes the idea that ‘every1 can be a model’, ‘every1 can work in fashion’ and ‘every1 can be a photographer as long as they have a decent camera + a few photoshop effects.’ seems to have had some contest where users fought for the opportunity to be featured in a magazine. Utilizing this free labor + the chance to come to Am Appy HQ in Los Angeles for an exclusive photo shoot.

Wonder if this exploited every alt’s dream to be an Am Appy model, kinda like the Best Butt Content.

seems to be a place that discourages retail consumerism, since so many users on the site create their own looks in regional thrift stores. is probably trying to prove to users that they can utilize their products in an authentic way, instead of fighting for second hand thrift store garbage/discounted premium brand apparel.

Wonder if this was a good way to get ‘cheap labor’ from alternative teens who thought this would elevate their modeling career.

Is the perfect alt social networking community?

Is this free going to turn into ‘hipster porn’ for Gen X alt men?
Did Am Appy exploit these teens, or is this ‘the highlight of their young alternative lives’?
If u had a , what kind of clothes would u wear to promote your brand and get ‘hyped’?
Does n e 1 know of any documented cases where accounts led to a modeling career?
Is the #1 internet marketer in the history of the internet?

ABC News does puff piece segment on juggalos + horrorcore.

Posted: 11 Mar 2010 11:34 AM PST

In order to educate upperclass Middle America about juggalo and horrorcore culture, ABC News did some piece where they basically listed all of the murders that self-proclaimed juggalos have committed, explained the violent content of horrorcore music, interview a police officer from a rural white town who deals with horrorcore murders, then they interview the Insane Clown Posse while they are wearing make up.

Wonder if we should send Insane Clown Posse to jail because they encourage people 2 kill other people in violent ways. Not sure if poor white people are ‘educated’ enough to understand what human life really means. It seems like all they really care about is listening to rap where artists talk about murder, cutting up the dead body, then having sex with the chopped up dead body.

Wonder what it is like to be in a juggalo buzzband. It seems like they probably make a lot of money off poor whites who still buy CDs. Might try to become a relevant horrorcore artist instead of trying to break into the internet indie chillwave game.

The interviewer, Martin Bashir, seems to have really ‘fallen’ since he did high level Michael Jackson interviews.

If u could interview a juggalo, what would u ask them?
Do yall think Middle America is worried that a juggalo will murder them?
Do u remember the time when juggalos wanted to murder Carles for calling them less than human?
Is Horrorcore bad for society/humanity?
Should I transition my brand into juggalo wave?

Will MTV create a new show similar to ‘Jersey Shore’ except about Juggalos?

Does Uffie look hot on her new album cover?

This is allegedy the album cover to Uffie’s upcoming album “Sex, Dreams, and Denim Jeans.” I am not sure if I believe it, since it seems like something some one made in MS Paint in a non-ironic kind of way. Also, I don’t think the picture of her is flattering enough. She is holding an American flag, but from what I have read in old interviews she escape from suburban Florida, moved to France, then met her current innercircle of relevant French electro artists who ‘produced’ her hits. Not sure if she is really into America, or if that is just some branding gimmick to seem ‘rebellious’ in other parts of the world. Might just be some fan art or something.

It seems like the goal of this album cover is probably to test whether or not ’sex sells.’ Feel like this could have been 400% more sexy since Uffie is usually down to get naked / show off her nips. Maybe they are just trying to make her seem like a somewhat normal, alternative girl, aged 19-24 or something.

The tracklisting shows that she works with the usual Ed Banger crew, but also collaborates with Pharrell Williams and Mattie Safer (formerly of the Rapture). Wonder if this album will be ‘critically acclaimed’, ‘popular in a mainstream way’, or a ‘flop.’

Wonder how this album is going 2 go.
Wonder if it will crossover into the post-Ke$ha market.
Wonder if Uffie ‘waited too long’ or if it was a wise move to wait for the blog house era to die.
Does Uffie look kute on her album cover, or does she need to ’step it up’?

Travis Barker and A-Trak play their first show 2gether.

A-Trak is an mildly alt DJ. is a reality TV Celeb, and the drummer from the hit band Blink 182. After the untimely death of DJ AM, had to find a new bro to DJ while he played the drums. On March 9 at the Roxy in Los Angeles, these bros apparently played their first show 2gether. Not sure if it was ‘good’ or ‘bad’, since I don’t really know how to evaluate this type of music/live experience.

Seemed like an ambient vibe.

“Let’s fucking serato the fuck out of this place, bro.’

Wonder if DJ Mom Jeans was mad pissed that he didn’t get to collab with , or maybe T Bark didn’t trust his DJ skills.

Many fans paid tribute to DJ AM in tshirt format.

Never 4get.

A lot of people don’t believe DJing is a real art, so it is hard for them to take drumming over DJing seriously.
Do u believe in the future of this genre?
Does this new band have to pay licensing fees to the artists who they utilize, sorta like the radio/Girl Talk?
Is it still authentic to be a DJ, or are chill wave artists getting higher booking fees in 2k10?
