| New hearing aid designed for alts with plug earrings Posted: 10 Feb 2010 03:50 PM PST Some company made a hearing aid for people with ‘plug’ earrings. I am not sure if having plugs in your ears is still alt. From what I have researched, plugs are some trend implemented by ‘emos’, misguided teens, 30-40 year old hard core alts, and some x_straightedge_x alts. Maybe if u go to a concert every day for the next 5 years, your hearing will be compromised, and u can use this product. Rising self-confidence is taking prostheses to another level. People don't try to hide their handicap anymore. Show what you've got, don't make a fuzz about your problem. Wear your hearing aid like a piece of jewelry, a stylish accessory. Be individual, be cool, be yourself. It seems like the greatest technology is technology that u can utilize as a fashion item. Kinda like how u can pin an iPod shuffle on to ur shirt, and let people know that u buy Apple products. R u considering losing ur hearing + getting plug earrings? Are plugs authentic? Do people with disabilities have a greater opportunity 4 self-expression + personal branding? Do u wear plugs, or do u know n e 1 who wears plugs? Will this product go ‘as viral’ as the Snuggie, or is the Snuggie a product with more universal appeal? |
| Indie/Alt Celebs make ‘arts + crafts’ 4 charity Posted: 10 Feb 2010 12:06 PM PST A bunch of indie / mindie / alt celebs made a bunch of arts and crafts that will be auctioned off for ‘Haiti Relief.’ I think this was a good exercise in self-expression. I feel like buying one of these items might prove that you are a mega-fan, as opposed to just another bro wearing a sweet tshirt from the merch booth. Vampire Weekend makes a cute lil gym bag. Wonder if this gymbag will get a ’shitload of backlash’ for being too white/preppy. The Bro from LeTigre (broad with a moustache). Did LeTigre peak in 2k_? DEVENDRA BANHART doodles while wearing Gandhi glasses. Bright Eyes sad on the inside bro Connor Oberst doodles on a guitar. Regina Spektor makes some tshirt. Former Postal Service singer Jenny Lewis makes some bag. The Strokes make a ’sweet ass bag’ with a sweet retro logo. Norah Jones makes a tshirt with a tree that represents life. The Fleet Foxes Robin Pecknold bro makes some far out shirt Natalie Portman ‘half asses’ and donates some used ballet slippers. Should more indie celebs make arts and crafts for Haiti / as a team building exercise? Which of these crafts will ‘make the most bank’? Which of these crafts is the biggest let down? If you ran a music reviews site that gave out ratings to crafts projects made by indie celebs, what would u give each craft? |
| Neon Indian: Playing Jimmy Fallon Thursday. Have they gone mntsrm? Posted: 10 Feb 2010 10:22 AM PST Neon Indian confirms [via twitter] that they will be playing Late Night with Jimmy Fallon, formerly hosted by Conan O’Brien. Does Neon Indian ‘no longer’ ‘belong’ to alt culture blogs? Which song should they play to attract the greatest amount of new fans? Will their next album ‘chart’ in the Billboard Top 10? Will Neon Indian’s song be featured in a Toyota Prius commercial? Will Neon Indian wear a ‘Team Conan’ shirt 2 protest the outcome of ‘The Late Night Wars’? |
| Google is deleting shitty mp3 blogs. Posted: 10 Feb 2010 09:53 AM PST Google ‘owns/hosts’ the popular blogging site tool blogger.com. In an effort to limit their liability/legal responsibility over mp3 blogs that post mildly illegal contact, they have begun to ‘delete’ blogs that continue to violate ‘the law.’ Wonder if these blogs ‘play by the rules’ or if they post unauthorized mp3s to get mad hits. Wonder if Google has deleted a music blog that ‘matters.’ Should mp3 blogs be deleted from the Earth, or are they ‘the first wave of authentic buzz for indie bands’? Do individual mp3 blogs matter, or do they just host mp3s for the hypemachine search engine? Seems ‘awesome’ to be Google, where you can just ‘take away the pride and joy’ of an mp3 blogger.
