Hello all. My name is Rebecca, and I’ll be taking over as managing editor here at hipster runoff. My friends call me Becca, so I’ll give you that honor since you’ll be stopping by for your daily dose of interweb goodness. For those of you who don’t think I am qualified, know that I have worked for various publications that I have been passionate about and this journey will be no different. Yes, yes. I know it’s cliched, but I was that girl who was editor of her high school newspaper, then went on to one of America’s top journalism programs at Northwestern University. I have a passion for new media and emerging technologies. As you have noticed, things are changing. iPhones, Kindles, and blogs–what we’ll use tomorrow, simply nobody knows.

I am a true progressive individual, willing to do whatever it takes to meet a late night deadline, or respond to the critics…yes, sometimes there will be haters, but if you stick to strong journalistic principles, no one can tear you apart. The power of the written word is stronger than ever in the new world. Twitter, blogs, wall-to-walls… we all just want to be heard, but it is the responsibility of media leaders to let the cream rise to the top.

I am not here to alienate Carles, or destroy what he built. While he was a very gifted writer, he was more of a blogger, and I am looking to transition this website into a new and exciting era of authentic writing. I want to help this community grow stronger. I have been reading this site since late 2008, and I have always been impressed by the strong community bonds within the microcommunity. However, we can make this community even stronger. What this blog needs is a strong female opinion to counterbalance the overwhelming male voice that holds it back from reaching a wider audience and attracting the advertisers it is capable of utilizing. Most men are inconsiderate towards the needs and feelings of women, but maybe you male readers could learn a thing or two.

Starting tomorrow, I will be posting my daily column tentatively titled A Day in the Life of Becca: The Tales of a Perfectly Troubled Hipster Girl where I’ll try to let you guys know what is going on in my personal life, while at the same time, giving women and females advice about how to deal with their problems. From boys, to health issues, to picking out the perfect outfit for a night on the town, there’s nothing that I won’t be willing to cover in a very friendly tone. I’ve got tons in common with you…Just a small town gal who moved to the city…(and NO, life is not just like an episode of Sex And the City) It’ll just be us girls…but maybe the boys can read if they want some tips on how to get on our good sides… Ha…like they’ll ever learn….

Our eventual goal is to post 10-20 times per day, bringing you newsbits, webjunk, viral vids, and opinions on some of the most important trends and, for lack of a better word, memes, of the day. Let us know what you want to see. YOU are the reader! and this is your site!

What up guys. Mike comin back at you. Gonna try to do some more hipster commentary since thats what people seem to want.

It’s weird how you can tell who all are hipsters now since the fashion is so out there and far out. I mean what is this black woman smoking. She looks like freaking DEnnis Rodman (google image him if you don’t watch basketball). This person looks terrible. I wouldn’t be caught leaving my house even if I liked dressing like that. Cmon now… Have a little bit of self-awareness to yourself.

Effing hipsters. When are they going to learn to stop trying so hard and be themselves instead of trying to be some one that they’re not. I hate people like that. It’s just middle school shit going down except with adults. Those are my two cents. What are yours???

No offense for using the n-word in the subject though. We cool? Cool.
