Super Punch

One more post for Amy Martin

I mentioned Amy Martin's fabulous time travel posters this week, and just learned that she's been laid off by the LA Times. (Hard to believe they have money to pay anyone - - Thursday's Sports section had only three small ads.) If you're looking to hire an artist, go get in touch.

Desktop Wallpaper: Star Trek teaser posters united

It took a little doing with my laughably primitive editing software (or as I like to call it, "MS Paint"), but here's the teaser posters for the upcoming J.J. Abrams reboot of Star Trek all lined up to form the Starfleet logo:

10 things I hated about The Dark Knight

Posted: 19 Jul 2008 10:06 PM CDT

1. Maggie Gyllenhaal is possibly the least attractive female lead in a major action movie, ever.

2. Aaron Eckhart is always unconvincing and had no chemistry with Gyllenhall.

3. The Two-Face effect is distractingly cartoony, and is particularly out of place next to Ledger's entirely convincing Joker.

4. The film is thirty minutes too long at least. Suggestion: Cut out every moment when someone on the boats talks.

5. Batman inexplicably crashes his motorcycle and incapacitates himself instead of disabling the Joker.

6. Police officers, aside from Gordon, are solely portrayed as corrupt and incompetent. There was time for the felon on the boat to show he was a good person, but not for a single patrol officer to shine in the entire movie?

7. Casting too-familiar actors in bit parts. Casting Tommy Lister as the big felon on the boat made me think about casting instead of just enjoying the movie.

8. The courtroom scenes were absurd: witness pulls an unloaded gun in court and gets punched out by the prosecutor; judge takes pleas from 100s of defendants in one room. Please. Law and Order has demonstrated that America has an appetite for relatively realistic courtroom drama.

9. The mayor wears too much eye liner.

10. Honestly, Batman's costume looks silly, not cool or intimidating.

Heath ledger's performance was incredible. But take that away, and it's a mediocre movie at best.
